The driving force behind RAILNSCALE are two model railway enthusiasts from the Netherlands. Since 2009 we build our own model railway. Looking for suitable scenery products, we discovered that not everything we were looking for was available.

We wanted a Reichspost bus on our layout. In N-scale (1:160), there was no model available, so we had to build it ourself. Having converted an existing truck to a bus, we were not satisfied. Using 3D printing, we were able to create a much better version. From the start we focussed on designing the models. The models were produced at Shapeways. Thus led one to the other. RAILNSCALE was established in August 2013.

With our products we try to close the gaps in the already existing model range. Although we started with models from the period 1920-1940, we are expanding our range to other eras.

In October 2018 we signed an agreement with DM-Toys. From that moment our kits and tools became available at DM-Toys, Europe’s biggest webshop in N scale, as well as at Modellbahn Union.

On January 7th 2019 Joris died. From that moment I continued my work at RAILNSCALE on my own. This was of course not so easy. However I strive to continue the brand RAILNSCALE. One of the bigger events was the introduction of RAILNSCALE Collectibles, the ready painted car models in N scale. Since September 2023 these successful products are produced and sold in cooperation with DM-toys.

In July 2024 Shapeways went banktrupt. As a consequence RAILNSCALE models, kits and tools are now only availble via DM-Toys and Modellbahn Union.
